Notion AI Review (2026)

What it is

Notion AI is the set of AI features built into Notion, the all-in-one workspace for notes, documents, wikis, project databases and calendars. Instead of copying information into a separate chatbot, you use AI where your work already lives: to draft and edit pages, fill in database properties, translate content, summarise meetings and answer questions using your workspace and connected apps. As of October 2026, Notion's central AI experience is called Notion Agent, and organisations can also build Custom Agents that handle repetitive tasks on their own.

Key features

According to Notion's official pricing page (October 2026):

  • Notion Agent: chat, generate content, autofill database properties and translate, inside your workspace.
  • AI Meeting Notes: transcribes meetings and produces a summary, with no bot joining the call. Admins can auto-delete transcripts on a schedule.
  • Enterprise Search: finds answers across your Notion workspace and connected tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams and GitHub.
  • Research mode for more in-depth answers.
  • Custom Agents: autonomous agents for recurring work, free to try and then billed using Notion credits.
  • Workers: run custom code on Notion to extend agents, sync data and trigger workflows.

Pricing (verified October 2026)

  • Free: $0, with a limited trial of Notion AI.
  • Plus: $10 per member/month billed yearly, or $12 billed monthly. Includes a trial of Notion AI capabilities rather than full access.
  • Business: $20 per member/month billed yearly, or $24 billed monthly. This is the plan that includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search and SAML SSO.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, adding advanced security and admin controls plus zero data retention with LLM providers.

Custom Agents cost $10 per 1,000 Notion credits after the free trial. Notion's FAQ says the Plus plan (limited to one member) is free for students and educators who sign up with an eligible school email address. Refunds are possible if you contact Notion soon after purchase; see the official FAQ for the exact conditions.

How Notion AI handles your data

Notion states that information used to power Notion AI is shared with AI subprocessors only to provide the features, that contracts with those subprocessors prohibit training on customer data, and that Notion AI will not use your data to train its models unless you opt in. For Enterprise workspaces, Notion says its LLM providers use zero data retention. Read our AI tools guides for a general privacy checklist before connecting company data.

Who it's for

  • Teams already running projects, docs and wikis in Notion.
  • Managers who want automatic meeting notes connected to project pages.
  • Companies that want one search across Notion, Slack, GitHub and similar tools.
  • Operations teams looking to automate recurring tasks with agents.

Pros

  • AI works directly on your existing pages and databases.
  • Meeting notes without a bot joining calls.
  • Search across connected workplace apps.
  • Clear statements on training and data retention.
  • Free Plus plan for eligible students and educators.

Cons

  • Full AI features require the Business plan; Free and Plus only include a trial.
  • Custom Agents add usage-based costs through credits.
  • Value depends on how much of your work is already in Notion.
  • AI answers are only as accurate as the pages they draw from, so outdated wikis produce outdated answers.

Alternatives on AIMAPER

  • Microsoft Copilot: AI inside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Google Gemini: AI across Gmail, Docs and Drive.
  • Otter.ai: specialised meeting transcription and summaries.
  • ChatGPT and Claude: general assistants with project and file features.

Bottom line

Notion AI is most valuable for teams that already use Notion as their central workspace. Because full access is part of the Business plan, compare the per-member cost with the time saved on meeting notes, search and drafting before upgrading.
