Overview

AudioConvert provides a browser‑based method to pull the caption track that already exists on a public YouTube video. You enter a YouTube link, the service fetches the readable captions, and then you can copy the text or download it as a TXT or subtitle‑ready SRT file. The tool does not generate new speech‑to‑text output; it only returns what YouTube has supplied.
The workflow is divided into three clear steps. First, you paste a YouTube URL, whether a standard watch link, a shortened youtu.be link, or a Shorts URL, into the input field. The service then queries YouTube for any caption track attached to that video. If the video contains auto‑generated captions, those are retrieved as long as YouTube exposes the track; if no captions are present, AudioConvert suggests using its separate Audio to Text feature but does not attempt to create a transcript itself. Once the captions are loaded, the interface displays searchable, timestamped segments that preserve the original timing. You can scroll to a specific moment, copy the plain text directly, or download the whole transcript in either a simple TXT file or an SRT file that can be used as subtitles in video editors.
AudioConvert is aimed at researchers, educators, content creators, and anyone who needs quick access to a video's spoken content without rewatching. Typical use cases listed include skimming long videos to find key moments, locating precise timestamps for quoting or clipping, providing a readable version for accessibility, and repurposing video material into notes, blog posts, or subtitle files. The tool works only with public videos that expose a caption track; private, member‑only, or videos without any captions are not supported. Language handling is automatic: you can let the system auto‑detect the spoken language, or you can select from supported languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish, French, German, and others, depending on the caption track that YouTube provides. The timestamps returned match the source caption timing, which helps you jump to exact moments in the original video.
