Openship is an open‑source platform that lets you deploy applications while keeping full control over the infrastructure. It supports a range of languages and frameworks, including Node, Python, Go, Rust, Docker, Rails, Laravel, Django and Bun, and can run on cloud, self‑hosted or hybrid environments.

The core workflow starts with a git push, a CLI command, the desktop app, or an AI‑driven MCP request. Openship builds the image on your machine (or in the cloud), runs any tests you have defined, and tags the result as an immutable, versioned artifact. The built image is then streamed over plain SSH to the target server, where it starts as a fresh container on an isolated private network. No agent, daemon or dashboard is installed on the destination box, and the platform automatically provisions managed Postgres, Redis, mail and object storage that are reachable only from the app.

Your domains are wired through OpenResty, which obtains free, auto‑renewing Let's Encrypt certificates and routes traffic to the new container with zero downtime. The previous version remains warm, allowing a one‑click rollback from the CLI, web dashboard, desktop app or AI agent. Because the build happens off‑site, production servers never compile code, and the swap between versions does not interrupt existing connections.

Openship can be run in three deployment shapes. The managed cloud option provides a single control plane for builds, domain management and logs, priced from $12 per month. The self‑hosted mode is free under an Apache‑2.0 license; you install the platform on any Linux box, connect via SSH and add nodes as needed, with no billing. A hybrid mode lets you combine cloud bursts with on‑premises servers, moving workloads without rebuilding or rewriting. An app catalog offers 42 ready‑to‑deploy templates for back‑ends, databases, automation and analytics, which you can place on either cloud or self‑hosted nodes.

Key features

  • Supports multiple stacks: Node, Python, Go, Rust, Docker, Rails, Laravel, Django, Bun
  • Builds images locally or in the cloud, then streams them over SSH to the target
  • Automatic free SSL via Let's Encrypt and zero‑downtime traffic swaps
  • Immutable, versioned artifacts with one‑click rollback
  • Managed services (Postgres, Redis, mail, object storage) on a private network
  • Hybrid deployment model allowing cloud and self‑hosted workloads to mix
