Overview

RouteMux is an AI gateway that lets you reach dozens of large‑language, image, video and audio models through a single OpenAI‑compatible endpoint. You keep the SDKs you already use and switch the base URL to start sending requests to providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek and others.
The service is aimed at developers and teams that need reliable access to multiple model providers without rewriting integration code for each one. By using the same request format you are already familiar with, you can route text, image or video workloads to the model that best fits the task. The platform adds multi‑layer redundancy, health‑aware routing and automatic failover, so production workloads stay up even if a vendor experiences an outage.
Billing works through a prepaid wallet that aggregates usage across all models. Only successful requests are charged, and the balance can be withdrawn at any time if it remains unused. Pricing is shown per million tokens (for example $0.15 in / $0.75 out) and per image call (for example $0.00175 for MiniMax Image‑01). There is no subscription fee or seat‑based pricing, and the dashboard provides a single invoice, usage logs and latency statistics.
Developers interact with RouteMux by replacing the base URL in their existing OpenAI or Anthropic client configuration. The endpoint accepts the same JSON payloads, model identifiers and authentication headers, so no code changes are required beyond the URL. Documentation includes a ready‑to‑paste prompt (llms.txt) that can be dropped into tools like Claude, Codex or Cursor, allowing those agents to discover the gateway automatically. The console shows real‑time metrics such as success rate (99.68 %), P95 latency (842 ms) and token consumption, helping you monitor cost and performance.
