Overview

Stacks is a full‑stack TypeScript framework that lets you write one typed codebase and ship it to web, desktop and mobile. It bundles a UI layer, a CMS, commerce, AI helpers, authentication, queues and cloud deployment so you can focus on business logic rather than glue code.
The framework provides a set of first‑party modules that share the same type definitions and configuration files. You define models with `defineModel`, add traits such as UUIDs, timestamps or API routes, and the ORM generates the corresponding database tables. Validation rules are expressed with the `@stacksjs/validation` schema, and factories let you seed data for tests. Actions and jobs are created with `new Action` or `new Job`, giving you built‑in support for background processing, email templates and AI prompts. The example `SummarizePostAction` shows how an action can call the built‑in Anthropic AI client, while the `SendWelcomeEmail` job demonstrates queue retries and back‑off settings.
Stacks targets developers who want a typed, opinionated stack that works across platforms without needing separate projects for each target. If you are building a product that requires a CMS, e‑commerce, authentication and cloud deployment, the framework supplies ready‑made models for users, orders, campaigns and more than a hundred pre‑written actions. The CLI (`$ buddy`) can generate models, jobs, queues, authentication scaffolding and even native desktop builds, so you can spin up a development environment with a single command. Cloud configuration is expressed in a typed `cloud.ts` file, allowing you to specify provider, region, DNS, SSL and email settings for production deployments.
The UI layer, called STX, renders the same components on the browser, in an iOS or Android wrapper, and as a macOS or Windows desktop app with a system tray. A generated admin dashboard appears for every model, offering analytics, kanban boards and marketing tools without extra coding. All configuration files are optional and typed, and the framework includes over 100 typed config files, 650 ready‑made actions and 110 agent skills that map to each subsystem.
