Overview

Kition is a desktop application that brings together document editing, table handling, whiteboards, design tools, and workflow automation into a single workspace. It is available for macOS, Windows, and experimental Linux. The software is open source under the AGPL license.

The core purpose of Kition is to let you write and translate documents, keep structured tables, sketch on infinite whiteboards, create brand‑ready designs, and build visual workflows, all while an AI agent can propose, generate, and edit content inside the same project. The agent's actions are visible as diffs in documents, changes in tables, or updates to designs. After the agent proposes a change you can review the plan, see each step the agent takes, and approve or reject the final edits. This workflow keeps the project files editable and in plain formats like Markdown, images, or design layers, so nothing is hidden behind proprietary formats.

You start a new project by loading existing files or creating new documents, tables, or whiteboards. The agent can tighten a launch narrative, update a campaign table, inspect a positioning board, or prepare a repeatable publishing workflow. When the agent finishes, the outputs are saved as separate editable artifacts, such as a launch package, a table, a board, or a design file. You can also connect the agent to external models like OpenAI or Anthropic, or use custom wires if you want to experiment with other providers.

Kition includes a Design Studio that lets you combine image, text, and shape layers to produce brand assets. The design can be resized to multiple dimensions and exported as PNG, JPEG, SVG, or PDF. The AI Design component can generate new assets from a written brief or an image reference, and you can review the candidates before saving the best ones into the project.
