Overview

MindLM lets you turn PDFs, YouTube videos, and any text into a hierarchical mind map. You can paste a link, drop a file, or type text and the tool returns a tree that you can fold, rename, and edit. The service is free for small inputs or for a free account that gives 10 credits plus one credit per day.

The tool supports many file types. PDFs up to 4 MB and Word files are accepted without signing up; PDFs can contain up to 20 pages. An EPUB, a Word document, or an image can also be uploaded. For YouTube videos, the first 20 minutes of a video can be mapped. If you want to work with larger files, like eBooks or multi‑page PDFs, you need to sign in. When a document is processed, MindLM extracts the text, keeps the original chapter or section structure, and creates a node for each major topic. On the left you see a collapsible list; clicking a node reveals its children. After you finish the map you can export it as PNG, Markdown, or an XMind file, which can be opened in Obsidian, Notion, or XMind itself.

MindLM reads the first 5,000 characters of any webpage or text input, then builds a visual representation of the argument. For YouTube you receive an outline of the captions, and podcasts can be converted through a transcription step. Image uploads are processed with OCR, but handwritten text is not supported. The interface allows you to edit node names, collapse or expand sections, and then export the map. Because the export preserves the hierarchical structure, the map can be imported into other note‑taking tools without losing context.
